A wireless bell is a convenient device, upon purchase of which certain requirements are met. There are many types of such devices suitable for a private house and apartment. When choosing a call, pay attention to the technical characteristics, design and features of the device.

Main features of call models
Modern wireless calls have the following characteristics:
- Choice of melody. New music is installed by connecting a flash card, smartphone or computer to the device. The melody can also be selected from those that are set by default.
- Having multiple speakers. This makes it possible to install signal receivers in several places, which helps the owner to hear the sound notification from anywhere in the house.
- The presence of 2-5 buttons. A call with two buttons is convenient for private houses with several entrances located on different sides of the site.
Scheme and principle of operation
The device diagram includes:
- A button that sends a signal to a speaker located in the room. Instead of the usual cable, wireless devices use radio waves to transmit a signal.
- A receiver that captures and converts radio wave signals.
- Accumulator or battery. Such a battery allows you to place the device at a great distance from the network.
The melody is heard at the moment when the visitor presses the button. The receiver picks up and converts the radio waves into an audio signal. So the owner will know that they came to him. Wireless calls transmit a signal from a button to a different distance. It all depends on the type of materials used in the construction of the house. The signal strength is reduced if the device is located in a brick or concrete building and behind a metal door.
The difference between street and apartment models
Street models of electric bells, unlike apartment ones, are equipped with special protection. The device lasts longer if the design contains a visor. This element protects the wireless gate bell from rain, wind and sunlight. However, the presence of a visor should not affect the signal quality.
Some models of outdoor warning devices have additional protection against dust and moisture. Not all wireless doorbells are able to function in low and high temperatures. Resistant to mechanical damage anti-vandal models, equipped with special safety elements and a durable steel case. It is best to choose a street radio call with a metal button. The price of such a device is 2-3 times higher than the cost of an apartment.
Advantages and disadvantages
To understand whether it is worth installing a battery-powered doorbell, evaluate its advantages:
- No need to run wires to the speaker. This is the main advantage that influences the choice of a sound notification for a frequent home, where the front door is located far from the gate. When installing a wired electric doorbell, you need to lay the wires underground. Radio calls have no such disadvantage.
- Autonomous food. The device is powered by a battery and is not affected by a power outage. This is also important for country houses that do not have electricity.
- Easy to mount and move the button. This advantage is rarely realized in practice. It is faced by people who decide to move the gate, change the direction of its opening, install a mailbox in the place of the former location of the button. In the case of a wired device, you have to shift the cable, radio wave devices simply outweigh.
The disadvantages include:
- Disadvantages associated with the use of batteries. Batteries have to be changed regularly, so the owner of the apartment needs to calculate the costs in advance.
- Problems with the choice of installation site. Wireless devices are not installed everywhere. When choosing a location, take into account the range of the device, the distance from the button to the receiver, the presence of obstacles that interfere with signal transmission.
- Problems with fixing the device. Some manufacturers provide an adhesive surface for mounting. Over time, Velcro may lose its properties, due to which the bell begins to shift. When installing such a product, screws are additionally used.
Choice Feature
When choosing a wireless doorbell, pay attention to the following points:
- Device type. Calls have the same principle of operation. They differ in design and type of sound notification.
- The number of batteries. This moment determines the cost of regular replacement of batteries.
- Radius of action. If the device is mounted in an apartment, there are no difficulties. As for multi-storey country houses, when choosing a call, the distance from the button to the speaker and possible obstacles to signal transmission are taken into account.
- Melody. Most devices have standard melodies added, which get boring over time. It is desirable that the device has the ability to download music from a phone or flash card.
- Type of shell. This is an important factor to consider when choosing a street bell. It must be made of material resistant to high humidity. In addition, protection against mechanical damage is required.
- Complete set. If a simple model does not meet the requirements of the owner, a device is chosen, supplemented by a video eye and additional receivers. If such parts are not provided in the package, specify whether it is possible to connect them in the future.
- Distance. The minimum distance is considered to be 10 m, in which case this parameter is not taken into account. If the button is located 50-100 meters from the receiver, devices with an amplified signal are purchased. Before buying, the call is checked, this helps to avoid issuing a return.
- Device price. If the homeowner is not interested in additional features that affect the cost of the device, he may not take into account the opinion of an obsessive consultant trying to sell an expensive model. It is not worth overpaying if some of the functions will not be used.
- Mounting method. Wireless devices have Velcro, with which the bell is attached to the wall. This is an unreliable method of fastening, therefore, when choosing, the possibility of strengthening the structure with self-tapping screws is taken into account.
- Guarantee. Simple models fail less often than devices equipped with additional parts. When buying an expensive call, they receive a warranty card. Sometimes the warranty period is up to 10 years.
Call setting
There are several mounting options:
- To the door. This method is chosen when it is impossible to fasten Velcro or screw screws into the wall. The call in this case is fixed on the door leaf.
- Near the entrance. The button is placed on a platband or a section of the wall located at a small distance from the door.
- On the gate. A similar option is implemented when installing the device in a private house. The bell must be protected from direct sunlight, rain and wind.
The button and the speaker are fixed with self-tapping screws or double-sided tape (if Velcro is not provided in the design). Most bells are equipped with holes used for driving screws.
